What is myciity.com?

myciity.com is a hand-made independent travel portal. What that exactly means is that there are a few people behind this domain that make it what it is. We scavenge the web for the best deals, information, tips, hacks, and tricks in the travel industry. While there may be a lot of digital blogs, portals and big brand names out there (yes, it’s a competitive space), we aim to be cutting right down the middle. Not a travel blog, nor a big brand portal. We are a “travel portal.” 🙂

How does myciity.com work?

That is a great question! myCiity.com is 100% free and we do not charge any extra fees for you to use our service or website. Nor do we use cookies to raise prices, which is a common practice in the industry.

So now you may be asking how we make money?

Well, we make money through a variety of sources and we do not hide that! Our primary method is when you look for a flight, hotel or other travel related sources that are offered across the myCiity website. For example, when it comes to flight and hotel search, we aggregate major booking sites, airlines, individual travel agencies and company websites into one portal to show you the latest deals we can find, all free!

The only way we make money is when a booking is successfully completed via the site you are referred to, in other words on a click-through basis, as we receive a referral fee that is paid fully by our partners. myCiity never charges you any commissions or fees. Plus we work hard to make sure you get the best deals across the board.

On top of that, we also make money through advertisements that are displayed throughout the site. Should a myCiity user click one of those ads, then you’ll be redirected to the advertisers’ website who also pay us a small referral fee. Again, at no cost to you as a user of the website.

We have a variety of partnerships that go from affiliate programs to contractual partnerships with top providers of travel related services. Our team consistently browses the web to find the best people, companies, organizations, and offers across the globe before we deploy them on our site.

Again, as previously stated a majority of these services and travel sources are from our partners whom we collaborate closely with through a variety of programs. They are typically the top of the tier in regards to their fields and services we use as well. The only reason we would collaborate and offer these services is because we have tested, evaluated and are aware of the services offered.

Is it available in my country?

myCiity.com is available across the globe. Our main website is currently only in English, however, we soon plan to roll out several more languages in the near future. However, the great news is that our flight and hotel search engine is available in over 50+ languages and over 30+ currencies working with over 500+ partners in the industry!

How do I search for flights on myCiity?

You can search directly on our homepage or anywhere on the main site where you find the flight search engine with the origin, destination, dates, number of passengers, and flight class along with a search button. On top of this, you can go directly to https://search.myciity.com to access our full flight and hotel search engine.

Does myCiity support multi-city flights?

Absolutely. On our flight portal page you’ll find a button labeled “Multi-City Route.” Click here and you can begin planning a multi-city trip!

Am I able to search and book in my own language & currency?

Yes! While our main page is primarily English (we are working hard to bring additional languages), our search portal is available in over 50+ languages and 70+ currencies!

You’ll find the language and currency dropdown located right above the search button on the portal page. Here you’ll be able to selected and change the currency as well as the language.

In most instances, once you have changed any of these variables, myCiity will begin prioritizing providers in those languages and currencies, allowing you to book with suppliers with these options.

The currency is different after being redirected. Why?

There can be a few reasons for that, however, primarily despite myCiity showing you a specific currency you requested, the provider of the booking service (airline or travel agency) may ultimately not accept that currency for payment. The price on myCiity is a conversion based on the information from the provider’s website.

Should this happen, then it is important to note that typically your bank or credit card provider will do the currency conversion upon payment, so you’ll see real-time details.

What ticket classes do you offer?

myCiity offers economy class tickets, which is automatically set by default on all searches, as well as business class, upon selection in the respective dropdown menu. Within this you’ll find preferred ticket classes as well, such as basic economy, premium economy, etc.). First class often depends on route, however, we do not offer it by default selection due to the rare amount of tickets booked in this class.

What are the prices for infants and children?

When selecting your search criteria, you’ll have the possibility to add minors in two categories:

  • Children under 12
  • Infants under 2

When you perform the search, the results will display the total price for all travelers indicated. These come as such from the supplier. We do not have the individual breakdown of the price per passenger and therefore do not show this. Typically, once you select a supplier to book with, you’ll be informed of the cost breakdown during the booking process.

The suppliers website has issues. What do I do?

If you are experiencing issues or error, especially during the booking process once your have been redirected to the suppliers’ website, then please contact them directly as only they will be able to assist you in your inquiry. We are not responsible for any issues that may occur with their website.

Nonetheless, if it is something urgent or critical and you feel that we should be aware of it, then please do not hesitate to contact us!

How can I find the best price?

Well, that comes down to a few factors. However within the search portal you will be able to filter several aspects of your flight search. These include

  • Number of stops
  • Baggage types
  • Duration
  • Fares
  • Times
  • Connecting Flights
  • Airports
  • Airlines
  • Online Travel Agencies

as well as sorting filters including all tickets and best price tickets.

The ticket price has changed after being redirected. Why?

myCiity pulls prices in real-time, however, the availability and pricing from suppliers fluctuate constantly depending on a variety of factors including supply and demand.

All fees and surcharges are included in the final price you are displayed on the site, however, on occasion, there may be inaccuracies in the information that comes from the supplier themselves. Hence, you may see a price that is no longer available due to the seat being sold (as an example).

Can myCiity provide me with a quote?

No. myCiity is not an online travel agency. We do not provide the ticketing service and hence cannot provide you a quote. Prices and availability fluctuate constantly and searches need to be done by myCiity users themselves.

Does myCiity use cookies to raise prices?

We do not sell the tickets, hence it is impossible for us to influence price changes in any way. These prices are straight from the suppliers and online travel agencies. What you see in the results come directly from them.

What is included in the price?

Suppliers on myCiity include all mandatory fees. Hence you will get the final price you need to pay. The challenge, however, is that these prices also constantly fluctuate and change, hence airlines or travel agencies may add to their prices for additional services during the booking process, such as travel insurance, etc. These are typically all optional.

The other fees that may incur are payment option fees. Some providers require additional surcharges based on the payment method you select. We have no influence over these and hence cannot display a variety of prices based on payment methods.

Who do I contact about my booking?

myCiity is a 100% free global travel portal that helps you deal with the entire travel industry, however, we do not handle bookings nor do we have access to any of your information. After having searched and initiated the booking process, we redirect you to the relevant travel agency or airline to complete your booking. In other words, your booking is directly with them, not with myCiity.

Therefore, if you have any questions, issues or need to make changes to an existing booking, then you need to contact the supplier directly with your contact details typically found in your booking confirmation or on their website.

Where is my booking confirmation?

We do not have any information about your booking, your personal information nor booking confirmation. If you have not received your booking confirmation from the supplier with which you made your booking then contact them directly!

On top of that make sure to;

  • Check your spam or trash email folders as sometimes messages can end up there rather than your inbox.
  • Contact supplier customer service directly

If you cannot remember or are unsure who you booked with, check your bank statement as you’ll typically find who made the charge. You may also be able to find out using your internet browser history for the day you made your booking.

Keep in mind, that booking confirmations vary from supplier to supplier. Some issue them immediately as they have teams working around the clock, others typically issue them within 24 hours. Always make sure you know who the supplier is and make sure you find out more about them based on your flight criteria.

What about changes, cancellations and refunds?

We do not handle your booking, nor do we have access to your booking information. Your booking is therefore not with myCiity, but with the supplier.

Should you have any questions about changes, cancellations or refunds, please contact the supplier directly. You should find all their details on your booking confirmation or on their website.

Different rules and options may apply for changes, cancellations, and refunds based on who you booked with. However, you should be able to read more about these on the supplier’s website.

How do I know that my booking went through the system?

After you have been redirected and completed the booking process, the supplier will send you a confirmation email and/or a booking confirmation.

What payment methods are there?

Bookings are not made with myCiity, hence, payment options vary from supplier to supplier. Should you have any questions, please contact the supplier directly. You will find contact details on their website.

Also note, that sometimes some suppliers will contact you to request further identification or documents. This is due to security reasons, should they suspect something is wrong with your payment.

The email address I entered is wrong.

If you entered the wrong email address, please contact the supplier immediately. We do not have your booking details, nor any information. Please make sure you rectify the issue with the supplier you booked with!

My booking was just cancelled!

This can occur occasionally within the travel industry. Should an airline decide to cancel a flight or on the rare occasion that circumstances force the airline to make other decisions regarding tickets, then many other factors change including the ticket price and bookings in the process. Should this happen, contact the supplier to help you reissue a new ticket at a new price or offer you a refund.

I was charged but have no booking confirmation/ticket

From time to time it can occur that the airline or the online travel agency books against your account, but does not confirm the booking. Depending on your bank, typically the money will be released back to you within a few days.

This happens for a variety of reasons and should it happen to you, then please contact the supplier where you booked your ticket immediately. They will be able to help you out in regards to what went wrong with your booking.

I was charged to much for my booking

The prices you see on myCiity are straight from the suppliers. The booking is not made with myCiity. It is always good to check the final price during the booking process to ensure everything is correct before you confirm and pay for your booking. Sometimes the price at the end may change due to additional services such as travel insurance or extra baggage.

Sometimes the type of payment method may also affect the final booking price on the suppliers’ website.

Either way always be aware when booking, and should you believe that in the rare instance you have been charged too much, then please get in touch with the supplier directly.

Can I trust the suppliers on your website?

myCiity is a 100% free travel portal. Your bookings are not with myCiity, but with the respective suppliers. Your booking is with them, not with myCiity. We therefore always urge you to read the terms of use on the suppliers’ website prior to booking.

myCiity cannot be held responsible for the customer service levels or our suppliers and we, therefore, recommend contacting the suppliers directly should you face any issues.

Nonetheless, we do love feedback. Hence, please feel free to tell us your experience with a supplier and anything you think we should be made aware of. We want all myCiity users to have great experiences!

How do I search for hotels on myCiity?

You can search directly on our homepage or anywhere on the main site where you find the hotel search engine with the city or hotel name, dates, and numbers of guests along with a search button. On top of this, you can go directly to https://search.myciity.com to access our full flight and hotel search engine.

How can I filter hotel prices?

On the results page you’ll be able to filter hotel prices based on a variety of factors including:

  • Sorting by popularity, price, ratings, distance and discounts
  • Price per night
  • Star ratings
  • Guest ratings
  • Property type
  • Distance
  • Districts based on location
  • Room facilities
  • General facilities
  • Room options

The results are then displayed accordingly based on your selection.

I am experiencing issues with the supplier website. Why?

This can be for a variety of factors.  If you receive any errors or encounter any problems completing your booking once redirected to your preferred hotel supplier’s site, we recommend you contact them directly as only they will be able to assist you.

Can you give me a quote for a hotel?

myCiity is not the supplier or booking agency. We redirect you to the supplier of your selection and all booking is done through their website. Hence we cannot give you or assist you in any bookings for numerous factors including these.

Does myCiity raise hotel prices based on cookies?

myCiity does not sell hotel reservations, hence it is impossible for us to influence pricing in any way. We carry out real time searches and find the prices currently available through our suppliers. The price takes you directly to them to make your booking.
